What it's about
Industrial Demonstration Trials
WP4 focuses on conducting industrial demonstration trials to showcase the use of H2/O2 and HEC/OEC combustion technologies in steel furnaces. These trials are crucial for evaluating the performance and impact of these advanced combustion methods in real industrial settings.
For all tasks within WP4, Demonstrators #1 and #2 will be equipped with MESS trial gas regulation systems or newly designed MESS regulation systems. These will be integrated with demo sites to manage the additional fuel and oxidizer flows (NG, H2, O2). Emissions, including NOx, CO2, as well as temperatures and pressures, will be continuously monitored and optimized by UGIT and DEW. This data will provide valuable input for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), focusing on combustion efficiency and reductions in CO2 and NOx emissions.
The demonstration trials will also enable furnace and burner adjustments throughout WP4 and contribute data to refine the models developed in WP3. Additionally, real-time monitoring will ensure awareness of any air leakage into the combustion zones, allowing for necessary adjustments to internal atmosphere pressure if required. Safety measures, as detailed in WP5, will also be implemented to mitigate potential risks.
