Modelling of the Combustion Process and Development of Numerical Models. WP3 focuses on modelling the combustion process and creating detailed numerical models for various types of industrial furnaces. The primary objective of this work package is to develop representative models that accurately reflect real industrial configurations, incorporating both burners and furnaces.
These numerical models will serve as tools for the development, optimization, and adaptation of industrial furnaces with the goal of reducing their carbon footprint, improving energy efficiency, and minimizing NOx emissions. They will also facilitate the adaptation of these furnaces to other industrial applications.
Given the diverse nature of the project, which includes multiple steel plants and different burner and furnace configurations, WP3 will explore a variety of numerical approaches. This will allow for a comprehensive understanding of combustion dynamics and enable the refinement of industrial furnaces across different operational contexts.
These activities will enable the consortium to conduct industrial demonstration trials in WP4.
